The program was launched in 2018 and has since awarded scholarships to over 10,000 students across the two countries.
The Foundation recently announced the launch of the MTN Foundation Bright Scholarship Reloaded, an updated version of the program that offers even more opportunities to students.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the MTN Foundation Bright Scholarship Reloaded, applicants must meet the following criteria:
For Ghanaians:
- Must be a first-year or continuing student pursuing a first degree at any Ghanaian public tertiary institution or pursuing vocational and technical skills training.
- Must be Ghanaian, brilliant but needy.
- Must be of good conduct, hardworking, and have excellent academic results. Being involved in extra-curricular activities as a continuing student is a plus.
- Be proven to be without any academic disciplinary issues and must not be serving a bond to be of good behavior.
For Nigerians:
- Be a Nigerian citizen
- Currently in Senior Secondary School 2 (SS2)
- Have excellent academic records in SS1
- Have a combined score of 300 and above in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
- Demonstrate financial need
- Obtain a letter of admission to any of the public tertiary institutions in Nigeria

Application Process:
- Apply online via the web portal: scholarship.mtn.com.gh.
- Provide a one-page letter of motivation, including your educational and professional goals.
- Submit the application together with valid contact details (Phone number/E-mail address).
- Shortlisted applicants will be notified and invited to meet the scholarship panel.
Application Process (Nigerians)
The application process for the MTN Foundation Bright Scholarship Reloaded is completely online, and interested applicants can apply by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Visit the MTN Foundation Bright Scholarship Reloaded application portal at https://www.mtn.ng/scholarships/ and download the application form.
Step 2: Fill in your personal details, including your name, date of birth, contact information, and educational background.
Step 3: Provide your financial information, including your parents’ income and employment status.
Step 4: Upload the following documents:
a. Passport photograph
b. Birth certificate or sworn affidavit of age declaration
c. Admission letter into a public tertiary institution in Nigeria
d. Results of the 2023 UTME
Step 5: Complete the online essay and submit your application.
It is important to note that the online application portal will only be accessible between May 1st, 2023, and June 30th, 2023. Applicants are advised to submit their applications before the deadline, as late applications will not be considered.
Selection Process
The selection process for the MTN Foundation Bright Scholarship Reloaded is highly competitive and transparent. The selection committee comprises professionals from various fields, including education, finance, and social development.
The committee will review all eligible applications and select the most deserving candidates based on the following criteria:
Academic Excellence: Applicants with excellent academic records will have an advantage in the selection process. The committee will review the results of the UTME and the applicant’s academic records in SS1 to determine academic excellence.
Financial Need: The committee will also consider the financial need of the applicant. Applicants from low-income families will have an advantage in the selection process.
Essay: The online essay is a critical component of the selection process. The committee will review the essay to evaluate the applicant’s communication skills, creativity, and critical thinking ability.
Diversity: The committee will also ensure diversity in the selection process. Applicants from different states and regions in Nigeria will be considered to promote national integration.
